Nadi Prana

Tibetan Energy Yoga

As of November 2010 Healthy Healing is hosting regular classes in healing energy yoga of Tibetan and Indian siddha origin.  Classes can be held on demand in Candolim, Anjuna, or Mandrem.  To request a class be held in either location with a minimum of 3 participants per session and for further infomation call Dr. Shikha at 98230-75920, Choyin at 98237-15920 or Vlad at 99227-00993.

          What Is NadiPrana?

The form of Tibetan Yoga offered is called NadiPrana, thus referring to the subtle energy channels (nadi) and energy movements (prana) that are activated during practice to provide for greater overall mental, psychological and physical balance. In NadiPrana several forms of traditional Tibetan yoga have been combined into a simplified form suitable for the modern-day lay practitioner who is mainly interested in the pursuit of health and wellness.

healthy healing picturesWhen practiced at the introductory level NadiPrana is a simple but precise yoga regimen that guarantees to significantly increase energy levels, perk up fitness and strengthen and tone the body. Based on several ancient systems of yoga, NadiPrana has simplified the techniques of these original sources to a degree that even a ten year old can practice at least some of them, or a seventy year old. Unlike any other kind of exercise system, at the introductory stages anyone can master this simple for of Tibtean Yoga – regardless of age and fitness. Each movement is specifically designed to work on different areas of the body, while helping to gain or regain overall strength and flexibility. But, most importantly, these moves will increase energy levels, stamina and vitality.

The center focus of NadiPrana is NOT on technique but on the practitioner’s body, breath and mind. Therefore, the main objective is to use the exercises to feel what is happening TO YOU and INSIDE OF YOU in the moment. In other words, you yourself are the center of attention, your ability to perceive and be aware. Learning how to practice Tibetan Yoga does not represent so much an outside goal to be achieved but rather more a way of life to be uncovered – a tool to greater self-awareness. NadiPrana quietly affords you an avenue for getting to know yourself in an as of yet unexplored, deeper and basically friendlier, more compassionate way. By making better friends with yourself and your life, as a secondary benefit you will usually also feel energized and more positive, overall healthier and happier.

What Are the Benefits Of the Nadiprana Practice?

If practiced at regular intervals with a certain degree of consistency and dedication, some of the benefits of Tibetan yoga are:

  • Reduced Stress
  • Calmness
  • Clarity
  • Radiant Health
  • Greater Focus and Concentration
  • A Sense of Purpose and Direction
  • A Feeling of Being Grounded And at Ease

This healthy sense of a trustworthy foundation in one’s own being and embodiment results in the detachment of equanimity. Life can be embraced and enjoyed fully as the ever-changing display it is. It becomes easier to handle when one is no longer at the effect of inner emotions and outer events.

Furthermore, when the mind is calm and at rest, healing can unfold of its own accord. This calmness then automatically strengthens the body’s inherent powers to fight off diseases.

Naturally, the greater our dedication to practice in a relaxed yet focused manner, the greater are also the benefits that we can enjoy. Although Tibetan yoga is effective, gentle and easy – nevertheless success does not come automatically.  It also cannot happen in a day, nor can it manifest without your active participation.

In Goa, Tibetan Yoga is taught both in a class and in three different retreat formats.

What Are the Tools Of NadiPrana?

Like all other forms of Tibetan yoga, NadiPrana uses a wide variety of traditional tools of introspection, such ashealthy healing picture:

  • Simple body movements,
  • Guided meditations and visualizations,
  • Gentle breathing exercises,
  • Sounds and mantras and other forms of ancient inner yoga techniques

The various exercises take unrefined psychophysical energies, including sexual energies, as their point of departure and “alchemically” transform them into a storehouse of refined Life Force for greater health, happiness & presence of mind.

Practical Suggestions For Attending a Class

  • If you decide to try out NadiPrana, do not hesitate to join a class for one day to determine if you like it. If after your first class you conclude that this is not for you, simply don’t come back.
  • If on the other hand, you are intrigued, sign up for at least 4 to 6 more classes to make it a 5- to 7-day commitment.
  • Each class lasts two hours, and the resulting 10 to 14 hours of experience will give you a good introduction and, hopefully, a solid enough base for you to continue experimenting on your own at home.
  • Ideally, you will take your classes on successive days to add the element of continuity, which will help deepen your experience and boost your energy.
  • You do not need to be in a special or elevated frame of mind or mood when you do Tibetan yoga.  If you are in a grouchy mood, that’s just as fine. Just bring yourself.
  • And do not forget to bring a yoga mat and a meditation pillow (any ordinary pillow will also do).
